Nothing makes me happier than looking down a long list of tour dates: latenight post Phish show, small towns in N Cal, a little tour to UT and CO, the National Anthem before a Giants game, Strawberry Festival(!), Mammoth Festival, Kentucky, Santa Cruz, the American River Festival, Bishop Festival, and a big show at the Independent in SF on Hardly Strictly weekend. Then we have two weeks in the Midwest with Allie Kral, including Harvest Fest and a big show in Denver on the way back. Then on to a bunch of Northwest dates. Life is good.
The next while is going to be busy for us and that’s the way I like it. Each show is a little story yet to be played out, with endless possibilities. There are so many factors that go into what happens. It’s all about who comes and what they bring to the table. It’s about how much the band can pick up on what’s going on in the room. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes we fall short, sometimes it’s completely magical and sublime. You’ve got to play to win. Can’t wait to get my hands on the strings.
